Hi! I hope you had a nice weekend! We were busy bees, doing fun Fall activities and the weather was perfect Fall temps!
Saturday morning, I got a portrait from Little A. She told me "This is you, Mommy! Sorry about the mean eyes, I couldn't fix that." She cracks me up.
On our way out of town we stopped to get lunch to go at the pita place. I had a bowl of quinoa, scallions, carrots, cucumbers, olives, falafel and a tahini sauce.
Saturday's adventure was to Duke Farms. If you Google "Doris Duke" you can read all about the place. Pretty neat history. Anyway, there are acres of beautiful paths to walk and enjoy the scenary.

Looks like Fall has arrived!
There is a beautiful green house with an orchid garden.
Lots of different lakes and wild flowers everywhere!
When we got home, we were hungry from all the walking! (I forgot to mention, the cafe at Duke Farms has organic smoothies made with almond milk! We weren't hungry, but T got an organic coffee, pretty cool!). I made Pasta Fagioli with gluten free pasta.
Sunday morning we woke up early and took another road trip, this time for apple picking!
There is only one organic apple picking spot in NJ, and it's a few hours from us, so we go to a farm that using the "low spray" IPM method.

They also had raspberry and elderberry picking! We have a raspberry bush in our yard, so we just enjoyed a few off the bushes (SHHH!).
After that, we went into the market where they had a big sign saying "Our vegetables are all Non-Gmo!" Score!
I also like to enjoy apple cider in the Fall. Little A and I shared one of theirs.
Finally, here are the beauties we brought home. Too bad all the Honeycrisp trees were bare! But we got some yummy varieties.
It was still early when we got home so we headed to our town street fair to walk around. Lucky for us, Fresh Press Juice Co had a stand. Little A and I shared a banana whip with vegan chocolate chips! Perfection!
I finished off the weekend with a delicious Fall dinner: baked butternut squash, a golden potato (both with lots of ground pepper), roasted chickpeas and broccolini.
