A Beginner's Guide To Crunchy Living

Our world has changed in a massive amount of ways in the past couple of hundred years. In many ways, it has changed for the better. There are so many things that we can learn about, or we have discovered. Technology is amazing and can really bless lives. Medicine and medical advances are saving lives too. But in a lot of ways, we have taken a step back, especially when it comes to natural living and disease. We seem to have many people with autoimmune diseases, as well as toxins coming at us from a variety of different things. I have been trying to live a more natural life, through the things that I eat and the things that we have in the home. But in can be a big change if you’re not ready for it. So here are some ways that you can start to eliminate toxins in your home and in your life. They are everywhere, but you can reduce a lot of your intake quite easily.

Eat Organic Food

 

One simple way to reduce the number of toxins that you’re taking into your body is by eating foods that haven’t been sprayed with pesticides and chemicals. It really does make a difference. If you can’t always get an organic option, then make sure you rinse and clean the foods thoroughly before use.

 

Wear Natural Fabrics

 

Like with the things that we eat, what we put on our body and have in our home has an impact to us, as well as the environment. The main benefit of organic materials is that, like organic food, the crops aren't treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or anything else unnatural. These are harmful for farmers and their workers, as well as us, and ecosystems in the wild. So look out for brands like Kippins for clothing, especially when it comes to our children. Natural clothing is a better choice for everyone.

 

Clean With Essential Oils

 

It might surprise you to find that many cleaning products that you have in your home can actually be doing you some damage. So look for more natural options when it comes to cleaning your home. It will benefit you, but also the environment. Look for therapeutic grade essential oils to clean with, especially things like lemon that will act as a degreaser too. You can also use natural things like vinegar to clean, and then scent the home with oils.

 

Ditch the Candles

 

So many of us love having scented candles around the home. But unfortunately, there are many that are made from paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of oil refinement. They give off some very toxic fumes. So instead, look for candles made with soy or beeswax, ditch them altogether, or diffuse essential oils in the home. Fresh air is so much nicer!

 

Go Green

 

Bringing nature indoors is another way to clean the air that is in your home. Look for some lush green houseplants, as well as flowers, and fill your home. Not only do they look good but they do good too.
