Health Update: Life with a Jpouch

January 12, 2015

Hi everyone! I thought today I would give an update on my current health status and how life is with a jpouch. If you don't know my story, you can read about it here.

Currently, I am feeling wonderful!! Actually, since my take down in June, I've felt great. No issues at all! I am eating a high raw, organic, plant based diet and I have energy. No more bleeding, stomach pain, cramping or rushing to the bathroom. I am like a normal person again! I haven't taken any medication (besides pain meds following surgery) since November 2013. I can honestly say I have a normal life again. I feel very blessed and lucky that I got my life back. Having the surgery wasn't much of a choice (I had precancerous cells all over my colon), but it was the best thing to happen to me. Three surgeries and having an ileostomy bag for 7 months were all worth it!

I don't have a colon (a jpouch is part of my small intestines acting as a colon) so I can run into a few issues. Dehydration is the only one that has effected me. When I feel like I'm not drinking enough, I grab coconut water or my favorite Ultima packs which really help rehydrate me. But this usually isn't an issue, I stay hydrated with a high raw diet and drinking a lot throughout the day.

So that's about it. In summary: feeling better then ever, truly blessed.
