Hi! I hope you had a nice weekend! We had a very long, busy one. I have lots to share, so here we go...
Little A didn't have school on Friday or Monday, so I wanted to make sure she had a fun, active weekend. On Friday, I took her to Fresh Press Juice Co for a date. I had an acai bowl..
And she had her usual, a banana whip with vegan chocolate chips and chocolate syrup.
Little A spotted this caterpillar from inside and couldn't wait to go outside to say "hi". She really loves all creatures, big and small! In fact, I took a picture of her over the weekend with a worm in her hands. Icky to me, but I don't discourage her from getting dirty or playing with bugs. :)
I took some raw granola bars to go..
They were delicious!
After that, Little A said she wanted to make S'mores. She had seen it on one of the shows she watches and asked if we could make them. So off to Whole Foods we went to find healthy/vegan/gluten free ingredients. While I wasn't a huge fan of the ingredients in the crackers and mashmallows, I figured it was a fun "once in awhile" treat.
Her smile says it all!
They came out really good, but I couldn't eat more than two. I didn't realize how rich they were. I remember eating like 10 at a time as a kid! Ha ha!
On Saturday, we visited a friend's farm, Little A wasn't to fond of the animals this time. She was a little timid to go near them.
But she wasn't timid when it came to jumping on their trampoline!
After that we hit up Basil's Bandwagon which was nearby for lunch and some goodies. I had a tempeh "BLT" with avocado on a collard wrap along with a tangerine kombucha.
We brought home a raw cashew butter cup. a Hail Merry Miracle Tart (they were on sale, so I couldn't resist), and some of Little A's favorite dried mangos.
On our way back, we stopped at Costco to stock up on some things. We got non-gmo tomatoes, mangos, organic lettuce, organic frozen cherries, organic dates, organic hummus, organic coconut oil. organic blueberries and Honest Brand chemical free shampoo and body wash (and not pictured, their sunblock), for Little A and the baby.
On Sunday, we finally got around to planting our garden. We didn't plant lettuces this year because we have a lot going on with the addition and the baby coming. But when we saw Home Depot had organic plants, we couldn't resist.
Here we are, all planted, all organic! Cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and eggplant!
We also planted two blueberry bushes that my Father-in-law brought us. He visited DiMeo organic farms in NJ for these.
On Sunday, I made a delicious smoothie to start my day: frozen cherries, bananas, dates, coconut flakes, water and vitamin D/K2 drops.
After that, we had to run to Home Depot for a few things, which happens to be right next to Whole Foods, so we grabbed lunch to go. I had vegetable rice paper rolls, a kale salad with white beans and potatoes and 3 drinks! LOL, I had a major thirst yesterday! Coconut water, kombucha and maple water. I was asked about Kombucha during pregnancy and from what I read, I feel it is safe FOR ME. Since I have been drinking it for a long time, I don't detox from it. That being said, I didn't feel comfortable drinking it when I was pregnant with Little A, but since then, I find more sites agreeing that it is safe and even benefical. Also, a few people asked about what I think of Maple Water, I find it very refreshing and sweet. I know a lot of people have said they don't like it, but I actually do. To each his own!
Finally, we ended our long weekend with some delicious watermelon! Mmmm!
Have a great day!
