Last week I started coming down with a cold I was determined to be done with it by the weekend being that we were planning on doing fun things for my birthday and last year, I had a similar cold and was pregnant and it wasn't fun! This time I shortened the cold to 4 days where last year, it lasted two weeks. Granted, being pregnant makes it harder to fight illness, but even Google told me to expect the cold to last a it 1.5-2 weeks. Here's how I did it..
I started to feel like I was getting sick after dinner one night last week. First thing I did was take Elderberry syrup. After that I jumped in my rebounder to get my lymph system moving so the illness would pass through. That night I also body brushed, took a steamy shower and used the Neti pot.
The next morning I was feeling it! My nose was extremely congested, I couldn't taste anything, I had a cough that sounded like a seal and my head was pounding. I got up, made a big mug of warm water, lemon, cayenne pepper and raw honey. After I drank that, I was in no mood to workout. I couldn't even rebound so instead I body brushed, and did the Neti pot in a steamy shower. I always rinse with cold water which stimulates the lymph system. I started taking oscillococcinum which is homeopathic medicine to take at the first sign of a cold. I noticed this made a big difference right away. I also took shots of Fire Cider about 3x a day and added Fruits of the Earth to my oatmeal and smoothie when I came around to wanting smoothies again.

I had a quinoa noodle soup that night and some fresh ginger ale (ginger, lemon and sparkling water with stevia drops). Before bed I took some more homeopathic medicine, body brushed, and did the Neti pot in a hot shower. I also used a humidifier all night next to my bed. I continued doing all of this every morning and every night for the next couple of nights. I also rested a lot. I stayed in bed with my two girlies unless I had to make food, or drive Little A to school or activities. They didn't mind because we watched movies and colored.
My appetite was back by day 3 and by day 4 my cold was just about gone. On Saturday morning I was perfectly fine! The cough lingered for a few more days, but nothing too bad and without the other symptoms, I felt great just in time for my birthday weekend!
