Snow Day Ideas

January 25, 2016

If you are anything like me, you aren't a big fan of the snow. I mean, I like the way it looks when it's still white and not dirty, but I do not like to be cold! I would much rather leave the house in the heat, than in the cold. Anyway, this past weekend we were snowed in which smells out b-o-r-i-n-g in my world. On the weekends we have family adventures, being stuck inside is not an adventure.. Or is it.. Here are some fun ideas to make being snowed in fun!

Stock up on snacks and drinks before the snowfall! For us this means chips and guacamole, kale chips, chocolate, veggies and hummus and Kombucha!

Tonic it up! T and I enjoyed warm drinks all day. I made myself Dandy Blend with reishi, chaga, coconut creamer and stevia. For him, he drinks coffee so I used Four Sigma Foods mushroom coffee with some Coffee Blast and coconut creamer.

Play games. We laugh and have a fun time playing different board games. Right now we like the Yoga Garden Game that Little A got for Christmas. This game is a great way to get moving and wake your body up while having fun.

Rent a movie on Netflix. We watched Train Wreck after the kids went to sleep.

Take a family nap. Little A and T went outside to play and Baby S and I took a nice nap. I can't remember the last time I had a nap (probably when I was pregnant, and even then it was rare since Little A won't nap). This was refreshing and so peaceful while the snow was falling outside.

Make a big pot of soup. I stocked up on ingredients for broccoli, quinoa, white bean soup. Basically I just cooked garlic in olive oil, added a head of broccoli and 3 cups of white beans, some quinoa and water with seasonings and sea salt. Let it boil and cook down, add 3/4 to the blender with some cashews. Blend and add back to the pot and cook until hot. Squeeze some lemon and ground pepper on top.

Finally, if you feel like you need some fresh air, get outside and do some grounding. Make a snow angel, build a snow man, go sledding.
