My Strategy For Making the Best Oatmeal

Hi! Today I'm going to share my favorite ways to make yummy oatmeal and what components I like to add to mine. Winter has arrived and as the weather gets colder and colder, I like my food hotter and hotter. I truly love my morning smoothie and no matter how the weather is, I still want that.. But, there are some mornings that a big bowl of oatmeal just hits the spot! I even make it for lunch sometimes. Nothing like a stick to your ribs, warming, fulfilling meal on a cold winter day. 

 

For my base, I use gluten free oats and I always cook them with two dates, a sprinkle of salt and half a banana. 

Then I mix it up. I add in..

Frozen fruit: wild blueberries, cherries or strawberries. 

 

I let everything cook together and at the very end I add in a splash of nut milk. 

-Almond Milk

-Cashew Milk

Or

-Coconut Milk

 

After that, I add to my bowl and top..

A scoop of nut butter:

-Peanut Butter

-Almond Butter

Or

-Walnut butter

 

Dried fruit:

-Raisins

-Goji Berries

Or

-Mulberries

 

Fresh Fruit:

-Half a banana

-Berries

Or

Apples

 

Spice:

-Cinnamon

Or 

-Pumpkin Pie Spice

Fruit Spreads or Jelly

 

A drizzle:

-Syrup

-Maple Syrup

Or

Coconut Nectar

 

Some More Fat:

-Chia Seeds

-Coconut Oil

-Walnuts

-Coconut Shredd

Or

-Brazil Nuts

 

Voila! There you have it! My strategy for making a delicious bowl of oatmeal!
